OUR HISTORY Frederick Chapter, Order of DeMolay, sponsored by Enoch Royal Arch Chapter No. 23, was instituted on July 20 1923, with fifty-one members. The initiation degrees of the order were conferred on the charter class by the officers of Hagerstown Chapter, with the chapter formally being instituted by Warren S. Seipp, active member of the Grand Council in Maryland. The first officers were selected by the Advisory Council. They were; Melvin M. Engle as Master Councilor, Thomas J. Schaefer as Senior Councilor, George T. Cramer as Junior Councilor, and Lloyd B. Winebrenner as Scribe. Today Frederick Chapter continues in the tradition of serving the local community. It is active in helping young men become better, so that when they become adults they will be able to assume the roles of leadership, which are vital to the needs of our community.
